The CNG surge tank is an important part of the gas transmission and distribution system. It has been widely promoted and applied because of its compact structure, small footprint, investment saving, and easy installation and use. The basic configuration in the box includes inlet and outlet valves, filters, pressure regulators and corresponding measuring instruments. It can also be equipped with corrugated compensators, overpressure relief valves, overpressure shut-off valves and other auxiliary safety equipment. At the same time, according to the usage and user requirements, it can be assembled into a single, dual or multi-channel gas pressure regulator box.

The CNG surge tank can be made into an ordinary type or a heat preservation (heating) type according to the temperament. For dry, non-water-containing temperament (such as natural gas, etc.), an ordinary box can be used. For the gas quality that contains water and is greatly affected by temperature changes (such as artificial coal gas, liquefied petroleum gas, etc.), an insulated box must be selected to ensure the normal gas supply of the pressure regulating system.

The single-channel pressure regulating box is equipped with a pressure regulating system and a bypass pipeline. Since the gas must be stopped when the regulator is maintained or overhauled, the single-channel surge tank is generally used for users with small gas consumption and intermittent gas supply.

The double-channel pressure regulating box is equipped with two-channel pressure regulating systems and bypass pipelines. One system is running, and the other system is used as a safety guarantee. In this way, the pressure regulating system can be maintained and overhauled without affecting the user's gas consumption. Therefore, the dual-channel surge tank is generally used for users who use a large amount of gas and cannot stop the gas. For example, the two-way pressure regulating system is equipped with an overpressure cut-off valve, and the automatic switching function can be realized by different settings of the cut-off pressure.
